Bass vocalist Daniel Fridley resides in the Boston area and uses his “spotless, resonant bass” (Cleveland Classical) as a virtuosic vehicle suited to a wide range of musical styles. He performs a variety of operatic genres, specializing primarily in the music of the Baroque and Classical periods, and sings in a number of ensembles focusing on music from the Middle Ages through the 20 th century. He sings in the ensembles of Blue Heron, Boston Baroque, Culomba, the Newberry Consort, Upper Valley Baroque, and many others.

This coming season, Fridley began with performances of Monteverdi’s Vespro della beata Virgine with Incantare (August). He will join Boston Baroque for Haydn’s Seasons (September) and Handel’s Messiah (December). He will sing and narrate with the Arpeggione Ensemble in their concert featuring a children’s book about Beverly’s own Shoebert the Seal, with music by Schubert. He will have the pleasure of singing in concerts for Middlesex Community College in October, as well as getting to conduct his new chamber choir there. Fridley will continue creating recordings with Culomba, specializing in folk music from around the world. In addition, Culomba will be hosting a polyphony festival in Western MA in October. He will sing with Cappella Clausura in October and April, and joins the Boston Cecilia in November. Fridley will also have the opportunity to sing Vulcan with the Henry Purcell Society of Boston, as well as join Spectrum Singers for Rameau solos. As December returns, he joins Upper Valley Baroque for a performance as soloist and chamber musician, and sings plentiful Christmas-oriented church services at Church of the Epiphany, Winchester. In January, he will return with Culomba to Vancouver, BC for another appearance at the Song Roots polyphony festival, followed by an extended tour in February. He joins Emmanuel Music for Bach’s St. Matthew Passion in March, and will travel to Chicago to join the Newberry Consort in an exciting polychoral concert in May.

As a teacher, Fridley teaches students of all ages and aspirations. He continues to serve as a professor of voice at Middlesex Community College where he began teaching in 2023. He also continues to teach private lessons at Endicott College as an adjunct professor. Fridley teaches private piano, voice, and recorder lessons through Note-Worthy Experiences Music Studio, working with students to foster their musical creativity and encouraging them to find joy in making music. He is developing a private voice studio out of his home in Watertown, MA.

He grew up in the Willamette Valley region of Oregon, but has gradually made his way across the country to the East Coast. Throughout this journey, his other musical interests include conducting and dance (both historical and ballroom). Outside of the musical realm, he’s an avid explorer of both board games and the wonders of the natural world. He also loves to read and to bake, and to enjoy a well brewed cup of coffee. He and his wife are expecting their first child in December 2026!
