Jason J. Wang, tenor

Jason J. Wang, tenor, has performed a wide range of repertoire with many of Boston's leading ensembles such as Boston Baroque, the Handel & Haydn Society, and Emmanuel Music. Notable engagements as a soloist include performances of Bach’s Weihnachtsoratorium, Arvo Pärt's Passio, Charpentier’s Te Deum, Haydn’s Part-Songs at Cornell University, and Monteverdi's Vespers of 1610. His previous concert work includes appearances with the Mark Morris Dance Group, the Boston Modern Orchestra Project, the Musicians of the Old Post Road, the Henry Purcell Society of Boston, the Schola Cantorum of Boston, the Harvard Early Music Society, Boston Cecilia, the Marsh Chapel Choir and Collegium at Boston University, the Choirs of Trinity Church Copley, and with the Cambridge Concentus under the direction of Joshua Rifkin. Mr. Wang appeared with Emmanuel Music in performances of John Harbison's The Great Gatsby at the Tanglewood Music Festival and toured with Boston Baroque in Poland to Warsaw (Philharmonic Hall) and Katowice (NOSPR) for the Beethoven Easter Festival.

Mr. Wang’s highlight performances on the operatic stage includes appearances with Boston Baroque in Monteverdi’s L’incoronazione di Poppea, Odyssey Opera in Arthur Sullivan’s The Zoo and Mozart’s Lucio Silla, Boston Lyric Opera in Wagner’s Der fliegende Holländer, the Boston University Opera Institute, and the Boston Youth Symphony Orchestras (BYSO) in Verdi's Rigoletto and Otello. For three seasons Mr. Wang performed with Opera Boston, appearing most notably in their productions of Shostakovitch's The Nose, Rossini’s Tancredi, and Offenbach's The Grande Duchesse of Gérolstein. Mr. Wang is a graduate of Cornell University and the Boston University College of Fine Arts and can be heard on recordings released on the Albany and Linn labels.
