A Message from Our Directors
This feels like the right moment.
For more than a decade, the Henry Purcell Society of Boston has brought together exceptional artists around a shared love of English Baroque music, historically informed performance, and creative programming. We produced ambitious concerts, took chances, and discovered again and again how much freedom and possibility there is in being passionate, nimble, and artist-led.
Now we are ready to build on that history more deliberately.
We still share a deep commitment to Baroque music — and especially to the wit, drama, beauty, and theatricality of the English Baroque. We also share a belief that the most exciting ideas become possible when artistic imagination is matched with structure, development, and real partnerships.
That is what we are building together now.
We want the Henry Purcell Society of Boston to remain small enough to be inventive and willing to take risks, while becoming strong enough to support increasingly ambitious work. That means growing our artist-led collective, creating sustainable systems, welcoming new audiences, developing deeper relationships with supporters, and giving exceptional musicians the resources and freedom to make extraordinary things happen.
And we have dreams. More theatrical productions. Social concerts and unexpected gatherings. Community performances. Rarely heard repertoire. Important recordings. Projects we may not yet know how to accomplish.
We believe this is the moment to begin building the organization that can make those dreams possible.
We are tremendously excited to be doing that work together — and we hope you will come be part of what happens next.
